Looking for ways on how to lose weight very fast? I’ve got the 411 for you. Plus as an added bonus I’ll let you know how to lose weight safely for the long term.
It is easy to lose weight very fast. Let me tell you why.
The body uses units called calories in order to fuel the functions of the body. If you are bedridden you still need a certain amount of calories in order to function. This is called your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) or your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR).
Why do you need calories if you are bedridden, sleeping or just resting all day? Because your brain keeps functioning and keeps all your vital responses working. Your brain is consuming calories primarily in the form of glucose which is the best and cleanest fuel for your body to run on.
You heart keeps beating, your nervous system keeps sending and receiving signals, your lungs keep breathing. All these things and others require a minimum amount of calories.
And in fact the calories required by this RMR makes up the bulk of your daily calorie requirements unless you’re a highly functioning athlete.
You can require your body to consume more calories by increasing your metabolism. The best way and easiest way is to exercise or move/contract your muscles. The bigger the muscles you move the more they increase your metabolism and therefore your calorie requirements.
For example, tapping your toes constantly will increase your calorie burn rate, but it will be far less than if you went walking. And walking will require less calories to be consumed than running, and running requires less than sprinting.
With this in mind, here’s how to lose weight very, very fast. Eat nothing and move as fast as you can for as long as you can.
For example, a 160 pound male has a BMR of about 1700 calories. This is the minimum amount of calories he needs to eat in order to not lose weight if he lay in bed all day.
If this same man ran for 24 hours straight at 5mph he would burn 14,750 additional calories. Therefore, theoretically a man of 160 pounds could require at a maximum 16,450 calories in a 24 hour period.
Now because a pound of fat can produce 3,500 calories for us, then in order to burn away that 1 pound of fat we need to burn 3,500 calories more than we require. With this in mind, if you can cause your metabolism to require 16,450 calories like our theoretical man above you could lose a maximum of 4.7 pounds of fat in 24 hours. 16,450 calories / 3,500 calories.
However, that’s unrealistic for most of us, and perhaps probably not even physically possible.
So how can you lose weight really quickly but still realistically. The way to do that is to fast and include as much exercise as is practical. This is why such extreme diets such as the Lemon Juice Diet have become so popular. They work, but they’re unsustainable for the long term.
As an aside, the Master Cleanse as the diet was originally known as was developed as a way to cleanse and rejuvenate the body not so much as a weight loss diet.
If you’re going to do the Lemon Juice Diet, you will lose weight and you’ll lose weight fast. I have heard that many folks can lose 7 to 10 pound in just a week on such a program. So it can be a great way to jump start your diet.
But you should think long term too. It’s one thing to lose weight quickly, but it is more important to lose weight safely and not gain it back over the long term.
The way to do that is to lose weight while eating anything you want but not everything you want. You do this by counting calories. This is why we’ve gained weight, we’ve eaten too many calories over too long a time. Creating a calorie deficit over a long period of time will help you lose all the weight you want.
